For all you '62 classmates in the Pacific Northwest -

Jerry Larsen, Butch Bewick and Tom Hitchcock are putting together a gathering of '62 classmates in May of 2009 in McMinnville, Oregon, which is about 25 miles southwest of Portland. The dates are Friday, 1 May to Sunday, 3 May.

The main attraction will be tours of the Evergreen Air and Space Museum, which is the home of Howard Hughes' "Spruce Goose" and includes a 114-foot tall Titan missile complete with umbilical tower and an IMAX theatre. This is the largest museum of its kind west of the Mississippi. You can check out the Evergreen Museum at www.sprucegoose.org.

Planning is underway for a possible golf tournament Friday morning, possibly a wine-tasting tour Friday afternoon and a reception on Friday evening. There will be guided museum tours Saturday, followed by a banquet Saturday evening with a speaker to be announced.

Close by, there are a couple of indian casinos, outlet stores, the Tillamook Air Museum, antique shopping, one of the top wine producing areas in the country outside of Napa/Sonoma, not to mention the Oregon coast, and more, depending on your interests. There are excellent motels nearby with great rates, currently $70/night for retired military and $107/night for others. It is planned to keep the costs for tours, the reception, banquet and incidental items at under $150 per person, so this will not be a very expensive shindig.

This could be a great opportunity to extend the time you are here and explore our great part of the world, as well as spending some quality time with classmates. Please contact Jerry Larsen at jerryjan@comcast.net if you are interested, either for more information or with a "yes" or "maybe" or a "no" so we can make the appropriate bookings and venue selections.
